farali bhajiya | upvas pakora | upvas pakoda | farali bhajiya with step by step photo and video recipe. this is a very easy recipe to enjoy during upvas. it is prepared using rajigra flour and moraiya flour with some spice and few vegetables which can be consumed during these days.
this is a very auspicious month of shravan, especially in gujarati families everyone including kids observe fast on monday. so let’s cook some thing delicious to make our kids happily do upvas and wait eagerly for the next monday as to what mummy will cook new next time.
i learned this recipe from my mom as she used to prepare it for us, it tastes extremely delicious when served with the chutney prepared especially this farali bhajiya. i have added grated potatoes and capsicum to the pakora as i like it that way. you can avoid using it if you don’t like.

- 2-3 tbsp thick curd
- ½ tsp ginger chilli paste
- 1 tsp desiccated coconut
- 1 tsp roasted peanuts powder
- 1 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
- 3-4 mint leaves
- salt to taste
- ½ tsp sugar
- ½ cup rajigra flour (amarnath atta)
- 2 tbsp sama flour (samvat atta)
- 1 tbsp white sesame seeds (til)
- 1 tbsp roasted peanuts powder
- ½ tsp ginger chilli paste
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp oil
- 2 tbsp curd
- 1 small potato
- 1-2 tbsp capsicum, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
- oil to deep fry
- first of all, take a small bowl and add all the ingredients one by one.
- mix well and refrigerate it till serving.
- take a mixing bowl and add rajigra and sama flour.
- then add ginger chilli paste, sesame seeds, roasted peanuts powder, salt to taste, sugar, curd and oil.
- add 2-3 tbsp water to make quite thick batter.
- mix well.
- cover and keep aside for half an hour.
- now add finely chopped capsicum and coriander leaves.
- further take potato and thinly grate it.
- mix everything well.
- now heat the oil and deep fry pakora on a medium flame.
- stir occasionally.
- deep fry till it turns golden brown.
- transfer on a absorbent paper.
- serve hot with prepared curd chutney.
- adding capsicum and potatoes is optional but it tastes really delicious.
- adjust spices according to your taste.
