Ingredients (1 cup = 250 ml)
for cooking pasta:
  • 1 cup pasta
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1 tsp oil
  • salt to taste
for pasta sauce:
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic, finely chopped
  • 10-12 basil leaves, chopped
  • 1 can tomatoes or 4 roughly puréed tomatoes
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli flakes
for pasta in red sauce:
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup mixed bell peppers, sliced
  • salt to taste
  • ½ tsp mixed herbs
  • ¼ tsp black pepper powder
  • ¼ tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tbsp parmesan cheese or processed cheese to sprinkle
for cooking pasta:
  1. first of all, add water to a pan and add oil an salt to taste.
  2. then bring it to boil and add pasta to it.
  3. let the pasta cook till they turn soft. it will take around 10-12 minutes.
  4. drain the water from the pasta and keep aside.
for pasta sauce:
  1. heat the oil in a pan and add finely chopped garlic.
  2. sauté till the raw smell disappears.
  3. then add chopped basil leaves and sauté for few seconds.
  4. now add tomato purée, salt and mix well.
  5. then add mixed herbs, black pepper powder and chilli flakes.
  6. mix well and let it simmer for around 8-10 minutes.
for pasta in red sauce:
  1. heat oil in a pan and chopped garlic, onions and mixed bell peppers.
  2. saute in high flame for 2-3 minutes.
  3. now add in boiled pasta.
  4. then add salt to taste, mixed herbs and black pepper powder. mix well
  5. now add boiled pasta, chilli flakes and mix well.
  6. saute for 2 minutes.
  7. then add prepared pasta sauce.
  8. mix and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  9. sprinkle some parmesan cheese or processed cheese on the top just before serving.
Helpful Tips
- do not over cook the pasta.

- if using fresh tomatoes, use ripe tomatoes. italian or roma tomatoes are the best for making penne arrabbiata.

- add broccoli, carrots, zucchini to make pasta healthy.

- sprinkle parmesan cheese to get that authentic taste.
