garlic naan on tawa recipe | yeast free garlic naan recipe - yeast free and easy restaurant style garlic butter naan recipe

Ingredients (1 cup = 250 ml)
measuring cup used, 1 cup = 255 ml
  • for garlic butter paste:
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp garlic, finely grated
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds / black til , optional
  • for garlic naan:
  • 2 cups maida
  • salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • warm milk as required (i used almost 180 ml)
  • 1 tsp oil to coat the dough
for garlic butter paste:
  1. in a small bowl, mix all the ingredients well and keep aside.
  2. for garlic naan:
  3. in a mixing bowl, add maida, salt, baking soda, baking powder and mix well.
  4. now add ghee to the dry mixture.
  5. then add warm milk as required and prepare soft dough.
  6. coat the dough with oil and knead for 10 minutes.
  7. now cover the dough in a damp / wet cloth and let it rest for 2-3 hours.
  8. quickly knead the dough.
  9. then divide the dough into 5 equal parts.
  10. tuck the dough balls well.
  11. now roll the naan using dry flour and try to give an oval shape.
  12. apply water generously on one side of the naan and stick it to a very hot tawa.
  13. apply garlic butter paste on the naan generously.
  14. once the bubbles start to develop, flip the tawa directly on the flame.
  15. keep rotating the tawa so the naan does not burn.
  16. apply some more butter and serve hot garlic naan with the curry or daal of your choice.
Helpful Tips
- you can use curd instead of milk to prepare the dough, but using milk gives a little creamy flavour and taste to the naan.

- adding black sesame seeds is optional, instead you can use kalonji.

- apply water generously to the naan so it gets stick to the tawa and helps in getting proper texture.

- you can adjust garlic in the garlic butter paste according to your taste.

- to make perfect restaurant style naan, try to give an oval shape while rolling.

- you can also bake the naan in an oven.
