Ingredients (1 cup = 250 ml)
for kesar malai peda:
  • ½ cup condensed milk
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup milk powder
  • ¼ cup fresh cream / malai
  • 1 tbsp pistachio, chopped
  • 1 tsp saffron / kesar
to garnish:
  • saffron soaked in milk
  • pistachio
for kesar malai peda:
  1. in a non-stick pan, add condensed milk and milk. do not turn on the gas.
  2. now add milk powder and fresh cream / malai to it.
  3. now add pistachio and saffron strands.
  4. mix everything properly to avoid lumps.
  5. now turn on the gas on medium flame.
  6. keep stirring the mixture continuously.
  7. the mixture will start thickening soon.
  8. cook the mixture till it starts to leave the pan.
  9. now transfer it in a bowl and let it come down to room temperature.
  10. now divide the mixture in 7 equal parts.
  11. grease hands with ghee & roll the ball to make it smooth & make it flat.
  12. put some saffron soaked in milk over it.
  13. now put pistachio over it.
  14. kesar malai peda are ready to use.
Helpful Tips
- use the measurement properly, otherwise peda will become sticky.

- cook peda on a low to medium flame to avoid it from burning.

- turn on the gas only after mixing all the ingredients well to avoid lumps.

- adding pistachio is optional.

- add cardamom / elaichi powder to enhance the flavour of peda.

- let the mixture cool down completely before giving it a desired shape.
